Hello I need some advice about a Lee Enfield jungle carbine. I
bought a very original one that all of the serial numbers match
except for the bolt. When I first got it, it would shoot just fine but
now the bolt will not latch. I think the bolt face needs to be tighter.
What do you all think? Thank you for any and all help

"CABELLA'S", and probably others, like "Bass Pro
Shops", or "Gander Mountain have excellent books on these rifles. Try "Amazon", also !

I have a Jungle carbine, an excellent Brush
Country Deer Rifle, and have a book, but can't find the book right now!

Nicholaus, the bolt head on that rifle does un-screw from the bolt body, BUT, unless you have disassembled it (for cleaning, etc.) it won't unscrew by itself when installed in the rifle.

What exactly is happening? Will the bolt not close on a round in the chamber?

Have you taken a chamber brush/solvent and scrubbed the chamber "mirror" clean? Have you looked in the chamber to see of there is debris in it? Is the extractor binding on the case rim?

Are you sure you are using correct and clean ammo?

As the gentleman below says, I suspect you are using reloads? If you are, try a factory shell and see if the bolt closes properly. If the factory shell chambers proerly, then you have a sizing problem with the reloads. Any way you look at it, do not attempt to force the bolt closed and DO NOT attempt to shoot the gun until you solve the problem.

I am using factory ammunition. I do reload but not for this Jungle carbine. Thank you for the warning about not shooting it. I am sure if I tried to shoot it, it would kick the bolt open. I have swapped the bolts and the other Jungle Carbine's bolt closes just fine in the troublesome Jungle Carbine. I think this troublesome Jungle Carbine has a head space issue, is why the bolt will not close. What do you all think? Thank you for and all help

if the serial number on the bolt does not match the numbers on the gun you probably need to have the headspace set to correct the issue if you arent sure how it is done spend a few bucks at your local gunsmith and have it done correctly.

Enfield #4 and 5 rifles have the headspace set by changing the bolt head. Is it possible that your bolt head is 1 turn from fully screwed in?

Headspace is not the issue here. Check for the bolt head not being fully screwed in like Rich said. If headspace was the issue you'd have completely different problems.

Thank you for all of the help. I looked at the rifle a few minutes
ago and the bolt head was unscrewed from the bolt body a turn or
two. It functions just fine now. Thank you for all of the help my
friends.
