I picked up this cute little tool at an estate sale.

I knew what is was used for, but had a tough time figuring out the EXACT application, mostly because I originally read the stamped part # wrong.

How many of you know what is is and specifically what it is used for?

Are you sure it is a tool rather than a machine part?

That smooth bead in the last photo tell me it's a crimping tool of some sort. Maybe for metal hose or tubing fittings?

Looks like a adapter to pull a Chrysler alt pulley to me... That's about i I can figger out...

It looks like an adapter for a flange coupling.

No idea so I can only guess.

I'd say it's some kind of tool to crimp a hose fitting - and that odd shaped, drop in kinda flange is used to attach another tool that flares the fitting - or some action like that.

Tool is marked "Hinkley-Myers SE839-4 magneto armature bearing puller".

So I knew what it was, but I wondered what make/model it was to be used for.

I originally mis-read the # as "889" once I got it right I found out is was for IHC F-4, F-6, and E4A mags (and perhaps others).

And that would make it pretty darned old!

The bolt heads have no markings.

Here it is in use, key # 8.,..

As an interesting side-note, my internet reearch sems to indicate that "Hinckley-Myers" has a connection to the "Kent-Moore" tool company of today.
