Thanks to all who commented on my question last week about 3 phase conversion. Turns out that I found a single phase Unisaw for sale on CL and bought it last night.

Congratulations. I think that you will be pleased. I was when I bought mine on Ebay.

I have the Beisemeyer fence on mine. After moving it several hundred miles and letting it sit for a couple of years, when I did finally fire it up it cut like a dream. Dadoed a box together and had to knock it apart because everything fit so tight. It cut straight and clean with no adjustment from day one.

Do go buy yourself some quality blades.

Take a little time to check that everything is square and parallel before you use it much. It's easier to tune it now than it will be in the middle of a project.

Nice saw!

Nice looking saw. They're the best. Didn't realize how nice they were till I helped a guy that had one. Kind of a letdown to go back to my old Craftsman.

Cliff is correct. Swap that crappy factory fence for a Biesemeyer and you'll have a great tool.

My Unisaw came with a fence like yours. My Biesemeyer fence says Bill Biesemeyer, Arizona Special Products, made when he was still working out of his garage. Still excellent, after all these years of commercial use.

Actually there are several good fences available. The one in the photo just needs to be retired.

When they came out in the 1930's Unisaw was used to describe having everything in one cabinet. No motor mounted elsewhere, or a flat belt driven by a jack shaft.

A little history below.
Unisaw FAQ

I've got one my dad bought new in 1958. There has been a few changes over the years, but even the new Unisaws are still lightyears ahead of anything else on the market. Older models have a heavier cast top. Not sure when they started making them lighter. I did upgrade to a new Biesemeyer fence system a couple years back. Once you've used a Unisaw, nothing else makes the grade! Also have a shaper, and joiner and a bandsaw (Delta) bought at the same time period. Love my old tools!
