My old standby South Bend lathe and my new "toy lathe.

BOB I would love to have them both.

I ran my Grand Dad's lathes when I was younger. The one dealership even had one. It seems like I never have the room or money at the right times to pickup a simple manual lathe.

Bob, I would like to have a mini lathe, mainly to rethread fastners, etc. Does your mini have the power to rethread a 3/4" bolt?

I made a $300 offer for used one in a thrift store, but my offer was rejected.

Thanks for any info.

I like them both! We have a South Bend 10" Tool Room model, but my skills are very limited. Try to learn a little as I go.

I haven't had time to play with the little one, yet, but I seriously doubt it would have enough power to do that, especially at a low, practical speed.

A good friend had the little one, NIB, and passed away. It got it at his estate sale.
