Been looking into getting a SAS so can get back into painting my tractors, don't want to end up carrying an oxygen tank around with me the rest of my life!!!! Would appreciate any feed back on what is being used by those of you that have one!!! Want to be able to use hardeners!!! Paint maybe 1 or 2 tractors a yr, money is also factor! Would like to keep it under $500 if possible!! Thank you!!

Do you use a hood or respirator (type?)??? How long a hose do you have??? I will be painting outside, figured probably need 50ft(?)?????

Got one of these a few months ago. I had borrowed one with a hood number of years back. Decided I needed to own the next tractor I did and didn't want anything to do with a hood.

Found it on ebay and called and bought direct. So far so good.

I did get the 50 foot hose and would recommend that. One thing about the hoses though. This unit does use garden hose fittings except for the quick connect. Havent' used it yet but I do have a section of garden hose dedicated to this and figured if I wanted to I could use it to bring fresh air to a more central point in the shop and work off that.

Nother nice thing about this brand, it is varialble speed so can be adjusted for length of hose etc.

OH yeah if you order direct get extra lense covers. Mine came with 5 and painting tractors you will use them up fast.

I've got the Breathe Cool system also. GREAT people to deal with and a GREAT product. You won't be sorry.

You want to keep the crap out of your eyes too. I have a MSA, mine safety aprattus, like the fire dept would use. Very warm.

Also have a helmet with a hose connected to a fan, charcoal filters. Use the helmet if things are really bad on tractor. Wouldn't want to try to paint in either.

I had a device like a jet piolet used and pumped in fresh air from another room. Crap got in eyes, a tiny air leak blew air on eye and dried it out.

When painting, I just use a resperator with filters, about $20-40 bucks at HF or Menards. Only keeps crap out of lungs.

If you paint outside, that works great. Paint inside, you really need to make a paint room and bring in air, which means you really need a very good air filter system for air in and out.
George.

I wear glasses and was told hood would work better!!! Wonder what is best the vinyl or tyvek hood???? All the imput has sure been helpful and may THANKS to all!!!!!

Problem with the hood is it will rise up and is in the way as you move around in tight spaces. Don't think they would be a problem when you are painting panels on a car but doing a tractor you need to get into spots where the hood is in the way.

As to glasses I do take mine off when I paint so the mask fits tighter but I think if I needed to I could use it with them on. The one I have is adjustable speed so you can get a bit more air if needed to compensate for the leaks.

I have a breathe cool with the tyvek hood. Works great for painting tractors for me. The chin strap keeps it from blowing off my head. The 50' hose is a must (longer might even be better). The system has enough power for 2 people, but it is only me that uses it. The variable speed fan is great. Have kicked the idea around of getting an extra 25' length of hose to run through a bucket of cold water to keep air cool. However, in all the times I have used it (normally during summer) I have never had the air get to the point where it is uncomfortable.

It is worth every penny I spent. I got mine on ebay for around $250.

i made my own with a leaf blower and a paint ball mask using sump pump discharge hose . i removed the eye protection from the mask and replaced it with flexable clear plastic. i mounted the hose in the leaf blower so it wouldn't block all the air flow from the blower . cost less than $50 as i already had the blower. works fine.
