My grand daughters are going to be staying with us for the week. They brought their Xbox One player. Believe it or not my wife love to play Video games but is too cheap to buy a player. So she and the girls play for hours when they are here.

Here is my problem the Xbox One is setup for HDMI output. None of our TVs are new enough to have HDMI connections.

I have found cables that will go from HDMI to CVBS. When I Google search HDMI and Xbox one it would appear that the cables are not enough. It looks like we need a HDMI to CVBS converter.

SO what do we really need???

Maybe just go buy a newer smaller flat screen just for their games????

JD...probably is the time to get a newer flat screen TV and that will solve the HDMI problem and when the Xbox leaves, you can run a video cable from the computer to the flat screen and enjoy some decent graphics. I use a 32 inch Toshiba flat screen TV for my computer and the colors are so vivid....I enjoy the bigger screen too..especially while reading the news with my coffee in the morning..sit back and enjoy!! Just my 2 cents............

yes you will need an HDMI converter.
Not sure what your TV inputs are though so I do not know what type. Just get a 22 inch or so flat screen for around 150.
I got a Visio one at wally world which has HDMI, coax, and VGA video input. I use it as my computer monitor.
you will lose resolution and such with a converter.

got my wife a Amazon tablet and she plays zombies vs vegetables or somesuch on it :)

If the kids need to plug ours into a TV that doesn't have HDMI inputs, we plug it into a DVD player with HDMI then hook that to the TV with a coax cable.

I couldn't agree more.

Scrap the idea of a converter - go get a good tv!

I highly recommend Samsung. Hard to go wrong with them.

The kids will thank you. Xbox on a high def tv with hdmi is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than trying to convert it to an old tv - you lose a LOT of resolution doing that.

Even a smaller high resolution screen is way better than a large low resolution one.

TV Prices have come down so far that you can get a good tv for a very reasonable price.

plus one on getting a new tv.
after ya buy all the convertors, cables, etc, the price difference is small.

Video games have a lot of text in them, which kids can't read on an old fuzzy rez tv.

I bought a 32" flatscreen tv (cheap) for my grandsons games.
When he went home, I used it as a computer monitor. nice
no more leaning forward to see a small screen.
Liked it so much, I bought a bigger one for his games and kept the 32 for me.....

Well I got out voted. LOL The women folk needed an excuse to go shopping anyway. Wife has a "new" 32 inch wall mounted flat screen TV.

I get the old TV for the family room. I bet the current TV has not been on an hour this year unless the Grand Kids are in there.

The "girls"(old girl too LOL) are all playing games and eating popcorn. It has been showering and the humidity is pretty high right now. Tomorrow is suppose to be cooler and dryer. So the girls told me they would hang out with me then.

Ya gotta like the precise graphics I bet........I wanna hear on how you really like it....more life like..very clear graphic wise..my bet is that you will enjoy the difference...watch your favorite TV show in high definition and then report back here!!

good move. Gotta keep them all happy!

I'm not a big tv watcher myself so picture quality doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

But I do play xbox games with my kids. After years of hints from my son for a tv with HDMI, I finally gave in and bought one. He was right, it really makes a huge difference.

Now - having said that about not caring about the picture quality for regular TV - you've got to see the new 4K TV's that are coming out now.

When hi def came out years ago, I never got the hype. I thought "yeah, it's good, but it's not THAT great.

4K IS that great. THAT is what I'd call a clear, high definition picture. Pretty amazing watching something on one that's been filmed at the resolution the tv allows.

Prices are still sky high of course, but worth looking at one next time you're in a store just to see it.
