Bushhog mower

Anyone taken the stump pan off a bushhog mower? Got a 1.5 by 3 inch bar across the pan with a porta power pulling pushing on it. Bending the bar. Going to weld some reinforcement to it. Heated the pan. No luck yet. Using a 10 lb sledge also. More heat is the only thing I can think of.

This is a Bush Hog brand rotary mower, right? There is a approximately 1 inch X 4 inch steel bar on the inside of the stump jumper with a tapered hole in it, along with a keyway, to fit the tapered shaft on the bottom of the gearbox. The shaft has left hand threads but I assume you already have the nut off. I would apply penetrating oil, let it sit, maybe apply some more. It may help to turn the mower upside down to apply the oil, if you have the use of a
FEL. You may also have to apply heat. This applies to older Bush Hogs that I have owned. I now have a 5 or so years old model and fortunately have no experience with the stump jumper on it.<

Be careful lifting the thing.

Yes, this is a bush hog brand and it is a wing so it is vertical. We have the nut off and a porta power cylinder on it pushing on this bar that we have across the pan and 8 inch long bolts through where the blades were on.

Sounds like you are doing all you can do. Maybe you could keep the pressure on and applly more oil. You may have to carefully apply heat, trying not to overheat the grease seal on the gearbox. Good luck.
