Hammer Drive Screws

I want to attach 20ga sheet metal to wood. Has anyone used hammer drive screws for this purpose? Is a clearance hole in the sheet metal and a smaller pilot hole in the wood necessary or can the screw be driven into both materials through a one size pilot hole?

Never used drive screws on wood. Not sure if it would hold. Normal use is metal. One size pilot is all that is required on metal.

They're called "Tec Screws", hex head with a washer and rubber gasket made on the screw. They come in various sizes, various tips for metal or wood.

You want the ones for wood, just a point on the end, not the self drilling ones, they are for attaching to metal.

Use a magnetic driver, preferably in a screw gun or impact driver, but a drill will work. No predrilling, just run it through the metal into the wood.
