Bought a 2" pump from TSC 3 years ago on sale. The motor is a "Red Lion" motor. Which is the Chinkytown version of a Honda motor. Last fall it started running funky and starting hard. Didn't do anything with it last fall. This pump has been used a LOT since I bought it, just for your information and I would consider the life I got out of the ignition satisfactory. Dragged it out this spring and did the obligatory clean gas tank/carb/new spark plug/check valve clearence/kill switch/spark plug wire/plug cap routine and it still doesn't work right. So I pulled the coil off today. Some outfit in the midwest is supposed to be the supplier for these pumps. Guess I'll give em a call monday and see if they are any good at supplying simple parts like coils. If they give me a hard time about the part, I'll just go buy a Honda coil and be done with it. Used to keep those coils in stock when I was in the small engine business, but of course, I no longer have one around. I'll keep you posted.

What makes you think you need a coil? Does the spark jump 1/4 inch and is it blue? A failing coil will sometimes start and then fail as it warms up.

Which is excactly what this one is doing. Happened to be going by the Honda shop today and stopped in and bought the coil. $64. By the time I pay the shipping, the chinky coil would be within kissing distance of that anyway, I expect. Threw it on and the motor runs the way it is supposed to. And yes, the Chinese coil was an exact copy of the Honda coil. Them-there Chinamen don't have any respect for copyrights or such, do they?

So the bottom line is that I still don't know how the distributors parts service is.
