Hope somebody can help. My heat pump water heater died. A friend gave me one, same model, that he never used. It was missing a 15 microfarad capacitor.
The original capacitor had 4 terminals, two went to the compressor, one went to line voltage (120 v.) The only replacement capacitor I found was 2 terminals.
The wiring diagram shows the compressor has only these two wires, and the common.
This is an old model Crispaire WH-6B and the literature doesn't tell me what the compressor needs get it to work. I tried connecting one compressor wire to line, didn't work. Then I tried both compressor wires to the same capacitor terminal, didn't work.
Crispaire stopped manufacturing this model. My original unit was obsolete (NOS) when I put it into service 13 years ago, worked great until this summer.
Hope somebody here knows more than I do about compressors.
