Looking for a router bit

I am looking for the above router bit profile. It can be either 1/4" or 1/2" shank. It is for cutting a groove with rounded shoulders and narrow or no bottom.

I'm thinking that you need a shaper for that. Reason is that the cutter speed at the center will be pretty slow and give you a ragged cut. That said, if you can't find a router bit in that profile, you could get one ground by a good toolmaker. Start with a v-groove bit. Many cabinet shops would be able to grind it for you alsoa, as they probably have the equipment to make custom router profiles.

I have one or two of those bits. Mine are either Bosch, Vermont America, or generic store brand. I purchased mine at Menards, so I would think about any decent hardware store near you should have them. Just look for 1/4" round over bits.

Good luck finding that at a home depot or hardware store!

I searched for one of those myself for quite a while.

Everybody carries the piloted round over bits - not the kind you show there.

whiteside is often one of your best bets for finding what you need - but I see somebody already posted a link.

That is a commmon bit. Probably 1/12 hsp Porter-cable router, or such.

FREUD has them. Also for pattern cutting. Good for making window frames. etc.
