the left rear caliper went bad on my jeep and I am having to replace it. since the rotors are too thin from the factory( way for the dealership to make more money) I thought I would replace them at the same time. does anyone know how they come off? I have the caliper off haven't tried to get the rotor off yet. it would not just pull off but may be stuck. I am going to replace both back rotors, the front has already been replaced several years ago( not by dealer). thanks for any and all help.

Some rotors have a small screw between 2 of the studs, if you can't find a screw use you're favorite penetrant around the studs and axle and start pounding, sometimes a little heat is also helpful. Careful ,don't hit a stud.

not sure if the 2004 jeeps have those screws (often 2 philips head). They should be obvious.

If it does - I HIGHLY recommend purchasing an impact screw drive if you don't already own one.
The kind you hit with a hammer.

If it doesn't use those screws, it's likely just rusted in place.

get a good 3 to 5 pound hammer and smack the rotor off from the back if you can get around the shield.

It'll come off with some convincing. They can get very stuck.

Rotors may be held on by a clip over one of the studs. Pry it off. The rotor will be rusted on to the axle. Tap on the rotor to loosen it by going around in a circular pattern. Eventually it will be loose and you can pull it off.

once I had to cut off the front rotors of a Ford Torus used a grinder when the metal starts turning blue its thin enough to break when hit.

I think the emergency brake is inside so you have to turn the star wheels for the shoes to get the drum off the inside brake shoes,if you look on the back side you will see the slot for this.

I bet the emergency brake is set up like the old style drum on the same rotor. They get pretty tight from rust and little clearance to begin with. They'll come off with your choice of persuasion.

I have an 04 jeep grand Cherokee and there is nothing holding them other than that there rust to the axel it took a mini sledge to get them to brake loose on mine .

the rotor had clips on two of the studs. I removed the clips and getting the rotors off was easy. the reason I changed the rotor is I took it in for inspection and they found the caliper was leaking. they said the rotor was "too thin" and would have to be replaced also, the new rotor looks to be the same thickness as the old rotor. the dealer back in 2004 tried to get me on the too thin rotor on the front. I changed them about a year later and they were much thinner then the new ones. I cannot see paying some one to change the rotors at $300 when I can do it myself. the place I tried to get inspected wanted $415 to change the caliper, rotors, and pads on the rear. cost me $185 in parts(advance auto). big difference.
