Lift problems on a 59 Ford 641-D

I'm trying to locate part #NCA503B and NCA502 so I can adjust the constant draft. One is a guage. the other postisions the arm so you can adjust it to spec. it's not picking up high enough and it chatters. The hight problem is adjustment, the chattering I wonder if the relief valve in the bottom of the case might be preventing the lift full pressure or the two O-RINGS where the top mounts are shot

Thanks,

Eddie

f the o-rings bad, you would see leaks. If relief opening too early, then it would still yield full lift at no or light loads. Those tools, having been out of production for decades, are very rare today, but..........there are "tool-less" alternate adjustment procedures in the FO-20. Surely you aren't trying to work on it without one?

I just have the Shop manuel for it. what is the FO 20 and how do I find it??? I also read on this forum an I&T manuel????

In the past, I'd pull the cover and send it out to be adjusted, but I dont think there's many people that deal with tractors this old and they charge too much for something I can do

O-20 is an I&T manual available all over the place, including most tractor supply places.

The IT manual is not as good as the Ford reproduction manual here on details but the IT manuals shows you how to do the adjustments without the factory tooling.

I think that YT sells the IT manuals but you would need to call them to make sure. I only found the Ford factory reprints on line. I know many of YT parts are from Tisco and Tisco used to sell the IT service manuals.

I personally like to have both manuals. The Factory reprints go into great detail but may only refer to some special tool to do something. Where the IT manual many times will show you how to do the same thing with common tools or how to make a setting tool.

ctually there is nothing to those two "special tools". 503 simply holds the lift arm one inch above the cover gasket surface for duration of your adjustments. A 'stepper" ought to be able to rube goldberg that. 502 is a double ended feeler gauge with 0.39" thickness on one end for draft setting & 0.45" on the other for position adjust. A couple of 1/2 soft bolts (or scraps of iron), grinder or file & caliper ought to get that solved too.

Fella on here used to sell a spacer block and other parts to do
this, can't ever remember his name right now. He got too busy
to be very active on the forum?

Ok, update.....pulled the cover sent it out for complete overhaul...dropped the plate for the pressure rielief valve.....sludge in the bottom....(mind you this was flushed back in 2008) and sludge in the case itself) get to clean it again. As far as the O-rings, they looked a little chewed and will be replaced with the gasket. I will look into the I&T manuel for the future.....will let you know what happens
