Miller Trailblazer 55D

An acquaintance of mine is inquiring about buying a Miller Trailblazer 55D that I own but do not use. He has asked me to set a price but I do not know what it is worth.

It has about 1300 hours, looks new and starts, runs, and operates as it should. It has a new injector pump, four new injectors and a new battery. Included is about 50' of 00 cables on a reel but no wire feeder.

Any thoughts?

If it was me , I'd talk to the Miller welder distributor or dealer near you & ask them for their estimated value . It would probably help to show them pictures of it so they can get an idea of how well you've raken care of it . I may be an odd duck , but I try keeping all my rquipment cleaned inside by using air pressure to blow it out good . I also have sprayed electrical cleaner on the inside to try keeping the contacts & other internal parts cleaned of dust & weld smoke . Then I try keeping the outside wiped down . My welder bought back in the late 60s looks like its only a few yrs old .My Dad always made me (as a kid) keep all his tools & equipment cleaned , oiled & some I even had to use a car polish on at times . So these are some of my tips for keeping equipment value at as maximum as possibly can be had , HTH ! God bless , Ken

That's a top of the line Miller. I had one and in 1985, a new one was $18,000 here. I bought an ex Henuset pipelines machine for $2750.00. It was a 1975 and I think one of the first TB 55D's. Miller did have earlier CC/CV portables though. They were made into the late 90's. I'd say it's worth about the same as a new air cooled Trailblazer...in the $5000 range. New injection pump and injectors at 1300 hours doesn't sound right though. It's a heavy duty welder. Do you have a wire feeder with it? Way too much machine if you're not going to run a wire feeder. (400 amp 100% duty cycle CC/CV)

No wire feeder.

PO (close friend of mine) loaned it to a friend who used contaminated fuel, hence the new pump and injectors.

Put gas in by mistake? Do you have the serial number? Easy to tell what year it is. H is 70's, J is 80's, K is 90's. Second letter is month. Mine was HF but early 75 with a Perkins engine. Later models used a Continental diesel. Puddles that used to post on here bought a TB 55D new in about 82 for around $10,000. Should have pictures in the archives on here.

No gasoline. Just dirt and maybe algae. It's fine now after rebuilding the injector pump and all injectors and changing the filter.

Serial number is KC224636. Its a Continental engine. I have both welder and engine manuals.
