Rodac air hammer

My Rodac is at least 30years old, just used occasionally. Uses the 401 chisels. The chisel retaining spring broke and new one was purchased at Harbor Freight for $1.49. But the spring is just a bit too small diameter, wound too tightly. Bought new air hammer from HF and the spring with it is plenty tight too. Does fit but very difficult to install.
Where to get one that fits the Rodac?

I only use the solid retainers myself. The springs must fit tight or the chisel and spring will be a high speed projectile.
