a friend of mine purchased a new sears 10" miter saw and the sawdust goes everwhere but in the small bag, are we doing something wrong ?

Is there a blower, or vacuum that isn't working! Having never owned one I assume that unless the dust is pulled, or blown into a bag like my table saw... It will go everywhere. When I turn on my table Saw the bag instantly fill with air. Even though I have never looked for a blower; I am sure its there!

Probably not, except expecting too much. Those bags are pretty useless. Take it off and hook up a shop vac to the port.

Most have poor dust collection. Its hard as the blade is mostly unenclosed. I have a sliding compound and the bad is useless.

do you mean the little bag hooked to the back of the slider?
As said forget the bag, hook up a shop vac in it's place.

I own several tools with dust collection bags. Sanders, saws, biscuit joiner...

The bags NEVER work. They can't possibly work.
