JD brake drums

I have a 1952 model A. How Does one remove the drums, I only see rivet heads going in a circle and one larger one in the center.

The Center Nut! Use a good strong Air Impact, because those nuts are normally on very tight. Using a breaker bar, & socket can break the shaft, & then You are in real trouble!!! Parts book lists it as a 1 inch "Jam" nut... With good reason. You almost certainly will have to move the cast wheel out to the end of the axel to get an impact on.

You will need to remove the brake assembly from the tractor. There is a large nut on the inside that removes the shaft and drum.

Remove the three bolts and remove the housing.

Hope this helps.

I've done it on my "B" and I followed Mark's method . The whole as'embly comes off with 3 bolts and you can work on it on the bench !

I never said it would be fun, or easy! I loosen my 60 wheels every year. Not because its fun; but because I don't want to fight them when there is a problem. The letter series tractors I have not done! Can do a 60 under 10 minutes.
