Athol vise model #624. I purchased this vise at a flea market For $100.00. Weighs about 75 lbs. Anyway I want to disassemble it to clean and re grease. There is a bolt underneath that has a 1/8 slot in it. The head is round and about 1 inch in dia. I tried to turn the bolt with a piece of band iron and an adjustable wrench. It turns about 1/4 turn and stops. Would it be a left hand thread or is there some trick I don't know about? Thanks Much Ellis

It will be regular RH thread , but the end in the vise is peened over, possibly from the slide itself. Unscrew the slide and remove it and look at the end of the screw. Maybe reach in there with a Dremel and a burr and grind it down a little ?

The handle and screw come out with the removal of a cotter pin, accessed from below. There's a bushing on the handle end, followed by a spring, another bushing, then the pin (1/8 in x 1 in).
