Montgomery Ward Generator

Slow, old, and water-cooled or NOT so old and 3600 RPM?

I have a couple of MW units, a 1-cyl air-cooled 1KW unit (made by Onan) and a 2-cyl water-cooled 3KW unit. Some years back I got it running and generating and was going to nicely paint it up, and, of course, life happened and I've never got back to it.

I'm curious what yours is like?

If you GOOGLE "Sparks and Arcs" you will find a board run by a curmudgeon of sorts that doesn't like links to THIS site posted on his, so I won't do the reverse and post a direct link to HIS that covers all sorts of old gensets.

If it's like mine, it's HEAVY as @*&%$!

Were you looking for info to help get it running, or just trying to "date" it?

Answer is yes to both questions. I have not been able to take the time to do much more than look at it. I will try to keep you posted. THANKS

Some pictures would help, but it is possibly a light plant from back in the 20s or 30s. I used to have one made by sears. Mine wired to a house, and when you turned on a light or whatever the control box started it and switched form a monitor circuit to a power circuit for the house.

This is one heavy little sob! Bought it at garage sale for $15, non running. Only 1500w, got it running ok, but it should have a new gas tank. It had set so long I had to excite it with a drill, I learned that trick on here!

Most likely it is an Onan unit built for Montgomery Wards. Come on over to Smok Stak. I am also over there. Plenty of guys willing to get you what you need. All for free.
