Uncle Henry knife repair

I have an Uncle Henry LB7 that I broke. Something in the blade pivot gave way and now the blade is loose. I carried it all through the service, and broke it within days of out processing. I would like to have it repaired. Is it possible? Who would you send it to? Thanks Aaron

Have you tried to contact the manufacturer? I still see new knives with Uncle Henry on them. They may offer repair service.

That said,

I had a Case camper-with the screwdriver, can-opener and awl- that I broke the can-opener blade in it. Since I still had a copy of the warranty, (and the original box) I sent it back to them asking for repair, since the knife was a gift from my Daddy back in the "80s. They sent it back with the info that that particular knife blade was no longer in production. But near Christmas that year, they sent me an entirely new knife that was similar but had a smaller screwdriver blade.

I later found a vendor at a flea market that had some new knife blades for sale, spparently new stock from some manufacturer. So I ended up with a blade in my old Case knife that has the Boy Scouts logo on it.

I hope you can find someone to repair your knife. If not, and if you can find the part you need, you may be able to repair it yourself.

Thing is, Schrade closed up their long time factory in Ellenville NY in 2004, 10 years ago, they were my absolute favorite cutlery and knife maker, we lost many great business's in this state, this is another one. I did hear something about them going overseas or whatever, I have not even looked up the name since, or a very long time, even before I wrote this.

Well it says they were bought out, made overseas, according to the 2nd article, right on the 100 year anniversary. Schrade steel was a great knife blade, who knows what you get now, or if they honor any warranty.

When that plant closed it really affected that area with unemployment. I buy these Imperial knives at the electric supply for 14 bucks . They are made at the Imperial plant in Ireland . Great knife for the price. Seems if you want a good made in USA knife you have to look for used knifes.

Yes, I did see many NOS schrade knives on ebay for some time after that. Have not looked for any in a long time.

I would love to know the circumstances, leading to what happened. I know cheap knives flooded the market, but this was shameful, an excellent product was made there, for a very long time, I used to prefer schrade steel over buck, because it was easier to keep an edge and maintain that edge, could have been me too, but it just seemed I liked the material they used.

I still say this kind of manufacturing can come back, just shameful that we have to lose a bunch with 100+ consecutive year in business, its sad just like losing or having to cut down an old tree.

I'll second all of that - GOOD knives that a guy could afford to use everyday!
