iv got a old Lincoln 160 mig welder, its one of the first 160s, I was give in a new big big spool of 0.45 welding wire now my 160 welders chart don"t list the settings for a 0.45 wire.. anyone know if I can use that wire with that welder?

just looked and seems Im gonna need the 0.45 drive roller and tip.. wire goes threw line just fine.. I just dident know if the welder had to be a certin size to handle the 0.45 wire for it to weld right? iv always ran the 0.30, but I was giving the spool of 0.45 and have never used it.. im gessing its all perpos wire

The reason your chart don't show a .045 wire is because it is over the capacity of a 160 amp machine.I personally don't think you will do a lot of welding with .045 wire at 160 amps. I run .045 on a 250 amp machine and it it cranked up to about 200 amps. for 1/4 in plate.

First of all a big spool won't fit in your welder and second, you won't be able to get .045 drive rolls for it. As was mentioned your machine doesn't have the capacity to run .045 wire. .030 is a good size to be using on your machine.
