lincoln welding hood

Hello. I've got a Lincoln auto darkening welding hoods from Home Depot about 5 years ago. It is the fixed shade type. Had always worked good until now won't darken all the way down. There doesn't seem to have a battery to change. Just the lens piece that comes out with the sensors and solar charger piece. Does that piece go bad or am I missing seeing the battery somewhere?
Thanks
Bob

the lincoln helmets are solar powered with battery assist.
there is usually a button cell or a couple of AAA batteries inside the little black box. change the button cell and all will be fine I suspect.

My old harbor freight auto dark quit working and it went dark to where I can use it like my old hoods. I thought it was a built in safety.

Thanks for the info. It has no shade adjustment knob and is set at 11. It was the helmet that I could afford and has worked fine with no issues until now.
Thanks
Bob

Put it in the sun for 4 hours or so and see if the solar panel recharges. I've heard of this before but don't know if it's true or not. Doesn't cost anything to try.

You might want to consider a hood from HF. I have had and autodark adjustable shade one for over 10 years and it still works fine. I paid about $49 for it on sale.

I like the adjustable shade, have it adjusted close, strike the arc and then touch up for best puddle view.

I had tried several fixed shade lenses and could not get to see the puddle right. Had about given up on welding when I tried the adjustable shade hood. I COULD WELD AGAIN!

Prolly a little button cell battery died in it.
