Red Snap'r Solar Fencer Repair Help

Bought this thing on a farm sale 4-5 years ago and it's always worked great. Just noticed tonight it wasn't working. Red LED flashing, but no spark across the output terminals. Seems to me this thing used to tick softly, but silent now.
I found a fence wire dead shorted where it came off an insulator. No idea how long it had been that way, or if that may have damaged it.
Battery is well charged and ok, so opened it up for a look.
Just a circuit board and a transformer. Transformer has 4 leads, black and white, connected to circuit board, and 2 red ones, going to fence terminals.
Got 600 ohms across output side, .7 ohms across circuit board side black and white wires.
Is transformer shorted? Any way to test circuit board?
Can't find any information as to model or s/n of this thing.

That's not much circuitry but I would say it has to be a timing
circuit. If the LED is flashing it should be working.

Your white wire goes to a device that I am guessing is a
transistor. It is also the only thing heavy enough to drive the
transformer.

The best way to test a transistor is a transistor tester. That one
should have a crossable number on and MIGHT be one you could
grab at a Radio Shack. (But you never know about them.)

If that is the problem it might need more heat sinking.

RT (definitely my 2 cents worth)

Red Snapper transformers are notorious failure points & cost too much to bother to repair. Replace with a better/different brand.
