Is it possible to fix a small propane torch? The kind you use to sweat pipes etc. Mine will not light unless you cover the tip. I guess that restricts the flow and changes the mixture.

Sometimes the orifice becomes restricted I suppose by corrosion. If you remove the tip, you will find the orifice in the tube from the tank. It has an extremely small hole through it. You probably will need magnification to see it. I have a wire brush with very fine "hair", I pull a piece from the brush and use it to rod out the orifice.

All I have ever done to them is blow them out with compressed air.
If that does not work I trash em.

Depends on the type of torch. If it is a 'Turbo torch' like I have there is a screen (catalyst maybe?)in the middle and normal running sucks dirt and debris into it from the lower holes. You can unscrew the torch halves and clean it out and they usually operate like new.
