Has anyone had any luck with heated garden hose[electric] ? or do you have any tricks for me? I pump water out of a creek for mu wifes horses and
the hose freezes when i raise and drain it.

I put in a hydrant and a heated waterer. To get water out of a stream I think that I would put in a reservoir next to the stream made with two sections of 48 inch concrete pipe, and put a roof with door over it with a shallow well pump and a captive air tank and bury a pipe to the barn.

My neighbor would roll his out and water the horses, then coil it up and store it in the hot tub until needed again. Course you'll need a hot tub for that idea, ha.

(quoted from post at 18:45:02 12/22/13) i put spring water in my vehicles because the spring never freezes

Spring water is too bouncy it fights the vanes on the water pump.

What do you do with the pump??? I have two hay poopers.. Wish someone else had them..lol I drag about 125 foot of hose to water..twice a week. I unhook mine when done and throw one end down the hill while I coil it up then keep in workshop floor in basement of house till needed. When I lived at folks house we hung a hose weaved it through the corral fence down to the tank. Then just had a 10 foot piece to work with..Its on my bucket list to install a hyd. near the tank..cheaper to get rid of horses..

in a really cold area....nope
burying it or rolling it up and bringing it in after every use
is really the only way.
I just had to use my hose, When done and rolling it up, it was already frozen
really cold areas you even have to pack hay bales around
well shafts or the air in the tube will freeze the up pipe at the elbow

ALL too familiar!

Why not just move the corral down by the creek, let the horses drink from the creek whenever they wanted. As long as you are not getting your drinking water downstream from the horses there shouldn't be a problem.
