Steam Box Factory in operation

That has been linked here a couple times before.
I never get tired of watching it. Wonder what happened to the dog's tail. We had some barn cats without tails. They liked the heat from the vacume pump, and guess what!

That was great.
I noticed the dog was missing part of his tail which
is understandable around that equipment.

I,too, think that is fabulous. I hope that they can continue unhindered by government for another century,

I have to wonder though, why OSHA and the EPA aren't all over them. I didn't see one safety shield anywhere. The guys operating the presses don't have any safety restraints to insure that their hands are out of the way when they operate the press. I especially liked the guy who was lubricating one machine while it was running. At least two of the guys had long, flowing hair and they were standing near operating machinery. The black smoke out of the burner has to be an EPA nightmare.

Like I said, I love what they are doing and hope that can continue to do so, but I'm really surprised that the government isn't all over them.

It's so nice to see a family carrying on their heritage like this. I've not seen this video before but it's definitely worth the watch.

Ha - cat's tails - I remember seeing an old cow casually step down on a barn cat's tail. The cat was shrieking it's head off, scratching, clawing and spinning his wheels, and the cow paid no mind. Dang near pinched the tail off, in fact, the cat moped around for a week or so with this dead thing dragging around behind, and we finally caught it and clipped it off - and then the cat perked right up and back to normal.

I bet that pump belt would get them too, only quicker. . .

That's an excellent video!

I was astonished at the number of different ways one might maim oneself in that shop. Was anyone else surprised to learn the factory is in California?

Speaking of boilers and OSHA, I see you are from Tennessee - have you ever seen the OSHA video clip on the DANA plant (Paris?) boiler explosion a few years ago? Apparently by-passed the low-water cutoff switch. :-(

I think the reason they have evaded OSHA, is because they are family and there are no payrole checks dispursed, just shared income.
I learned that the hard way with OSHA. Myself and my cousin were a two man construction company, but I wrote him a check every two weeks and took out SS, WC, and UI, thus we were under their jurisdiction and got fined, for violations on a job we were doing. If I just gave him a check without taking the withholdings out, they couldn't touch us. A costly lesson.

Wonderful. I"m a mechanical designer by trade, and enjoy traditional woodworking. This is mechanical designer porn on the internet. Thanks for showing this.
