Well with rifle rounds a 270 is pretty much a 270 no matter who makes it. Now if it is reloaded ammo then you can have the factor of did the person reload it correctly as in uses a scale not a powder dipper as a measure to fill the cases. Seen way to many reload ammo but not use a scale and that is not a good way to do things

Not exactly - there are two 270 rounds in production right now - 270 winchester and 270 winchester short magnum.

Ah but see now you add words which makes a 2 different things all together. Sort of like the 44 special and the 44mag 2 different rounds same caliber and both say different things so that is an apple and orange thing

Agreed. Saying a 44 is a 44 no matter who makes it is wrong too. Leaving the words off doesn't make it right.

In this case the guy isn't sure if the 270 rounds will fit his rifle - he needs to know that there are at least two different 270s on the market right now and that they are not interchangeable.

Ah but again most guns state right on the thing what is it. If it was a 270 W or a 270 sm it should say so right on the gun. And since we do not have that weapon in our hands we can not do much more then what we have
