Anyone knowledgeable with a Samsung Galaxy II phone that might be able to help. I am supposed to have an apps shortcut on the lower home screen that can't be removed or changed. I don't have that icon.

Phone menu and hangouts.
I seem to have another problem also. Battery is getting low and I plugged it into charger and it shows it is charging but batt is still getting lower. I just bought this, my 1st smart phone and it is smarter than me.

Never had mine NOT charge....unplug then turn it off. Open the back and take out the battery for 10 sec., put it back in and turn it back on to allow it to re-boot. Plug the charger back in

You are finding out why I still have a "STUPID" phone that still WORKS!!!! LOL

My son's and wife all have "SMART" phones. Theirs will not work in my house. They have to go out on the rear step to talk. My "STUPID" phones work fine all around the house. Plus my Phone plan is $40 cheaper each month because I don't have to pay for the data plan.

JD. I know how you feel and NEARLY agree with you about not updating, but I remember how long I resisted a computer and now I and probably you are glad we finally got one. I hope it will be the same with this smart phone. OH BTW I found out you don't have to have a data plan if you have wifi, which I do. If you use the email and search the web without wifi, it gets expensive. This uverse internet comes with wifi at no charge

We have a Track Phone. It worked well at the house. I wanted one with Blue Tooth that would couple to my hear aids. I picked one out from Track Phone offerings and ordered it. It would not work from the house. So I ordered a different model, still would not work. We called Track Phone, hard to understand them on the phone. They finally sent us a phone with Blue Tooth, and it works at the house, but it's not quite the phone I wanted. I do like the Blue Tooth part.
It's not a smart phone.

I think you may need to do a factory data reset.
This will return your phone to "factory fresh"
settings. Before you do this process make sure
you back up any data you want to save (photos,
text messages, etc.). Also make sure you have at
least 50% battery.

Once you have done the above you go to: Settings >
Privacy > Factory Data Reset > Reset Phone > Erase
Everything. Your phone will reboot and perform
the reset. Your missing icon should be back and
most likely other issues you"ve been having will
be better too.

There is a bug in that phone (I have one like it). When it stops accepting charge you need to do as someone else suggested, take the battery out and leave it for minimum 10 seconds.

Contrary to many other devices you can take the battery out while the galaxy 2 (maybe others, but I only know specifically about the G2) is running without harming anything. In fact that is how you reset the phone. That will NOT put it back to factory specs or remove your data but it will reset the phone so that it will work again.
