torque wrenches

A few months back we discussed TWs and some said they liked the old Sears bar type but can't find one. There is one from the 60's, NIB, on Ebay right now. And No, I don't have a dog in the fight.

Out of desperation , I picked up a 3/8" torque wrench from Harbor Freight.. What a piece of s**t.. It wouldn't torque 42 foot pounds without the ratchet head jumping teeth.. I couldn't tell if it actually clicked or just jumped teeth.. No sir, no more for me.. Since then I've brought my spare wrench from my work toolbox home.. Craftsman tools broke me of that.. I could have beaten a path to the store replacing wrenches and sockets.. Yes they're warranteed for life... I'm just not that fond of driving to my neighborhood Sears store that often..

Same problem.. everytime I use a 6 foot cheater on my 3/8 sears torque wrench, it flys apart. Just dont make good stuff anymore.

Gimme your address... I'll send you a nice 1/2" dr. torque wrench.. And yes, it's a Crapsman...It jumps teeth too.....Without the help of a cheater bar..
