A question for the scrappers.

I have a large quantity of aluminum window frames to sell for scrap. They have some sort of fiber thermal break in the middle. I can get 4X the money for them if that was removed. Is there an easy way to do this? I tried heat and pounding with no results.

Define "large quantity". Are you talking about a semi load? Pick up load? Or barrel full?

What's your time worth?

Running it through a band saw is probably the best solution....but you'll be working pretty cheap.

There is about 500 lbs. which I calculate would be a $150 difference with current prices. I am beginning to think it is not worth the work.

Pull out 10 pounds and see how long it takes to rip it on a saw. You can then calculate how long it will take and whether or not it's worth the effort to rip the rest of it.
