Leaf blower

Which is best leaf blower to buy, battery, gas or electric? I just need to either vacumn or blow leaves from around my shrubs. thanks for any help

Electric. No gas to mix and you're close to a plug. For me, a huge back pack gas one. Do an acre+ of leaves.

I could not fathom owning an electric (toy) leaf blower.

I have a 2 cycle Huskyvarna, this thing will blow the gravel down the driveway.
Get a gas powered blower.

Hello Steve-Maine,

Echo back pack. It comes with a 5 year warranty. Chances are you won't need it( THE WARRANTY)!!!

I have a Solo Back-pak sprayer that I used for mosquito control. Can use that for large amount of leaves and just went to home Depot and got an electric vac and blower for $69, I can use that around the shrubs. thanks for all the help

Sears sells a shop vac that you can remove the head and use as a leaf blower. I like to use the blower feature to blow off many things in and around the shop. I don't use a leaf blower for flower beds, pressure washer and rotary nozzle is my choice of tools.

We got a million oaks and maples but don't blow leaves much. We enclose the mower decks and chop them that way, let turn into fertilizer come Spring. But we do have some sort of electric leaf blower, don't know who makes it, does just fine for the little bit we use it. Darn thing is about 15 years old. I guess it depends how big of an area you have to do, how frequent are recepticals, how long is your extension cord if not? We have a dirt driveway thats about 1,500 feet long, and when it gets wet, tires get muddy, and it gets tracked into the garage stalls. I was constantly sweeping out the garage until I saw the electric leaf blower senting there. Couple of minutes, dirt blown black outside where it belongs, no old gasoline to contend with, no pull startiing it for anyone else to deal with if I'm not around to pull start it.

I don't have a problem with gas blowers, I just don't have a need to go out that expense. As far as battery ones, I've never seen or heard of them, and thats not to say they don't, but if they do, might be worth looking at. Battery powered tools have come a long, long, long way. Battery powered leaf blower? If they make one, might be just what the doctor ordered for your needs, as might be a gas powered job. Its your money, so figure out your needs and...

Good luck.

Blowing leaves from around shrubs works much better than vacuuming them. Then just mulch the dry leaves with a lawn mower. Either a gas or electric blower will work for that depending on the proximity to an electric outlet and how fast you want to get done.

About 12 years ago I found a "rain gutter cleaning extension kit" for my small Weedeater gas blower, it was in a Menards store. That works slick! I can blow leaves and Pondarosa pine needles (5 to 7 inches long) out of rain gutters while standing on the ground. To clear the down spouts I point the nozzel down the spout and watch for the trash fly out the bottom. For a really plugged spout I point the nozzel in the bottom to blow thje trash out the top. Those kits are probably available for other brands of blowers now too.

Wear a hooded sweat shirt and glasses when you blow out the gutters, you will get dirty. If the gutters are wet wear a raincoat.

I second the Echo backpack, if you are really serious, I'm a big guy and I catch myself leaning into it sometimes. I use one to dust my chicken house when it comes time for clean out, but that's the only time I've ever run a blower so other brands and models may work just as good.

Bubba has a gas powered leaf blower. He puts it on, points it backwards and it powers his bicycle up to 40 mph.

don't know about the harmonica, but the stihl combi blower I have makes the earth turn faster. I can prove it, cause when I point it over my shoulder, at WOT, it makes me walk faster, to keep up!
