Metal Roof Edge

I am putting some old corrugated tin roofing on one of my corn cribs, it is a small, low crib. I am wondering what I can do with the bottom edge, to blunt or cover the sharp edges. You see , this crib is low enough to the ground that someone could bump their head into the edges, or run their hand along it and get cut. Some sort of trim I am thinking, but need ideas. I could just bend or fold it over I suppose, but there must be a better way ? Thanks

Electrical supply house will have a trim for sharp edges similar to the trim on a motorcycle helmet. It has metal in it and can be cut with tin snips. Some have an air pocket also. They can cut to length for you.

That is a good question. There are no commercial products available to do this with as I"ve checked into it. I've experienced the same issue with low metal roofs on cattle mineral feeders. What I've done is to take a treated 2x4, and attach it laterally to the end of the tin (on the underneath side) with the 2x4 extending out past the end by about 1.5 inches. I use a wood router to round the two exposed edges as well as the ends. This does not prevent someone from bumping their head, but it sure beats a cut. It works.

Fasten a J channel under the edge of the tin about a 1/4" out. This will allow the rain and snow to run/slide off, and protect you from the rough edge.

Hmm, how about a combo of those two ideas. If I used the J channel and slid a 1 x 3 treated into the channel and then bolted it with carriage bolts to the underside of the tin edge, would be more solid yes ?

Plastic door-edge protector (U-shaped), sold in rolls. Flexible & contours itself to just about anything you put it on. Should be available from any large auto supply. Last time I bought any I got mine from J.C.Whitney Co. .

That would work as well. With the carriage bolts sticking out from the underneath side, this would still be a concern for someone to run their head into. With the 2x4, I used the same roofing screws making sure they did not protrude through the 2x4.
