Howdy,
I was given an old generator with a Briggs engine on it, it is a small unit only 1000 watts. What is interesting is that it looks like it was never used, it is not stuck but it was in a damp location for many years. I would like to identify the engine production date but can"t make heads or tails out of the charts on the Briggs sites.
The model is 80432 type 943103 serial 6012230.
Anyone know what those numbers mean?
Thanks,
Bob

If it actually says code for your serial #, the first two digits are the year of manufacturs. 1960. I'm not exactly sure when they started that system.

my understanding is serial numbers used thru 1963 code numbers used 1964 and up first 2 numbers of code number is year of manufacture

If your briggs is the same as mine the last set of numbers mean this. 1960 December 23.
Now all of my briggs engines are form the 1980s and they start with 84 for 1984 Etc. I may be all wet but I hope this helps. Jeffcat
