Wow, go do some work today and come back to a myriad of posts!
The totes in question ware rectangular as JDmaris describes, they had honey in them originally. They have a big valve with a plastic handle on them.
Unfortunately they are 1400 miles from me, mad dad's eyesight is so poor he could not measure for me. I was hoping there was a "standard" measurement but it looks like there is a ton of variation.
We have one at work used for waste oil and it measures a tad over 2 inches across, and may not be exactly what is on dad's totes.
