Delta Miter saw fell off the loader when I was moving it. Broke the fence and handle. Parts are no longer available. The fence was easy to make out of wood. Tried gluing the the handle a few times, but that didn't work. So I took the handle apart, removed the switch and made a metal bracket. Used pop rivets, but where I wanted to put 2 rivets, the pop rivet gun wouldn't fit. So I reversed the nail, used two small washers and it worked great. The top rivet and the 3 one down were reversed. Miter saw is as good as new.

I've found parts for my Delta on ebay & when they fail in the parts department, a parts unit will show up after a spell. If you have Delta Milwaukee equipment, I know how it goes. Parts for those are getting hard to find & they weren't made that far away from me.

Can't beat fixing it yourself, though.

At least you had the talent to repair it yourself. Most people would have trashed it and bought one of the throw-away models they build today.

Never heard of rapid-fix. Who sells it? will try some. In my case there were broken plastic pieces that were missing. Needed to fill in large gaps. Where the fence broke was in the smallest point. My fix should last.

I also lost the tire on my 5 year old 14 inch delat bandsaw. Parts are no longer available. Thank God, ebay had them.

Good to hear a thread about overcoming adversity, rather than just complaining because you couldn't get parts for a decades-old power tool...

Most people that would go to the effort of posting a thread about parts no longer available would just sit there and complain because their 25-year-old miter saw was broke and they couldn't get parts for it. How long do people expect companies to support their discontinued/obsolete products? They go by demand. If there's enough demand for parts to make it profitable, they continue supplying parts. When they start losing money, they stop supplying parts.

If companies kept supplying parts for everything they ever built forever, all companies would be out of business and we'd be living in caves.

Mike, I have a 5 year old delta 14 inch bandsaw. The tires are no longer available, except on ebay.

All the tool trucks that stop by have it and a few parts stores..

Good fix Goerge.
That model Delta was a very good saw. Most acurate miter of any I have used - but all cast iron so heavy as all get out.
Ugh!
I hated hauling mine around from job to job.
Mine died when I bought an expensive aluminum cutting blade and was cutting some 1/4 X 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 aluminum angle.
It was doing a fantastic job till the blade caught.
The whole saw jumped about 2' in the air, flipped completely over and landed in a pile.
Busted the casting where it pivots.
Saw and blade were both scrap.
Newer saws made out of cast aluminum are less accurate but you can carry them with one hand.

Right about heavy.
Used mine yesterday and discovered It's a half degree out. 44.5 - 45. Oh well, this is my back up. Son bought me a new one for Christmas, Hitachi and much lighter. Haven't noticed the accuracy of the Hitachi being a problem. If you want precision, don't use a radial arm.

Went to ebay and got a 2 10 ml bottles for $24 shipping included. Other places wanted $20 for 2 5ml bottles with shipping.

Thanks, I love to try new things, especially when someone tells me it works great.

How is it if you try to repair a gas tank with it?
George.

Parts support aside from high wear items such as blades is poor with just about everybody. I quit Sears Craftsman over poor parts support. Am finding it just about the same elsewhere.
