I asked this question about a month ago, my 5500 watt genset did run my buzz box up to about 110 amps.

I have a 5500 watt genny and a Lincoln 225 tombstone welder. I have used this combination to my satisfaction on small projects away from the shop. I take the time to turn off the welder between rods, and I don"t usually weld materials heavier than quarter inch thickness.

No need to turn the welder off between rods. The fan needs to run full time to cool the transformer. The idle current draw is low any way.Turning it off is wrong.
