How good are lift discs and what brand are the best to buy. I have a Ford 800 tractor. What would be suitable for that tractor

Three point discs are more maneuverable than pull type discs but are usually lighter and, therefore, less agressive.

A decent and properly ballasted 8xx series Ford with good tires will handle a 8-9' lift dsic in just about any conditions and a 10' one in many conditions if it is not too heavy. You will likely need front as well as rear ballast.

Thanks Dean--A farm dealer downtown has 2 sets of Ford Discs1 OFFSET JOHN DEERE, 1 Bush hog brand, and a King Kutter ,1 International and there will be a sale next Saturday that has a Massie Ferguson. Just wonder which woukd be the best. The Bush Hog is the heaviest--don't know?

The Massey if it is of the orignal Ferguson design is the best mounted disk of all times.

Mine were not 3 point but they would get the angle changed every time I went over the ground, you are wasting fuel if you don't adjust to conditions. And if you adjust to the conditions you will have a better job. Have had 2 non adjustables and they pull harded than needed most times.

Somehow over the past few years I have acquired a collection of discs. Three of them are 3pt pick up discs and two are pull type. I have an old IH four gang pull type that works great but it's the aggrevation of stopping and pulling the rope, backing up, then going forward and pulling the rope,etc... I do have a King Plow company 3pt disc that works great. It's easy to adjust the gangs on, but if somebody came along and offered to trade me one of the earlier Ferguson or Massey Ferguson discs I would trade in a heart beat. They work great and the gangs are adjustable from the tractor seat. The real early ones had wooden bearings and the later ones had chilled iron bearings and those are more desirable.
