TPMS are required because Firestone sold Ford a bunch of tires, said don't run them under X PSI, then Ford stuck them on a vehicle and told people to run them below that, then people didn't pay attention when they got low and after a while running at something like 12% below minimum inflation (per Firestone) they would blow out. There was issues at two levels in that whole deal, and we get to pay for them both.
I hadn't heard about rear-view camera mandates. I guess after that there's no way to get a truck without a big fugly screen where a radio should be? And what about states where a video-playing screen within view of the driver is illegal?
Manipulated by outside interests or not, the government is becoming our nanny.
That's why I have no plans to ever buy another newer vehicle, even if it means having to go to Case for engine parts and swapping in a heavy-duty manual trans.
