The Eastwood shrinker stretcher for sheet metal is on sale . Has anyone purchased this and compared it to the Harbor Freight shrinker/stretcher? Could it be the same model ? Or maybe a superior type actually worth more money?

That's a good question. I bought a spot welder from Eastwood couple years back. Saw one at Harbor Freight that looked identical for less than half the price. I guess you could call Eastwood and ask them where the tool is made, you KNOW where Harbor Freights stuff is made.

Precious little difference you'd notice and not worth any extra money. If you buy the HF one , make your own stand, and get the stippled dies made by Neil Dunder of Gogitzit tools to keep metal marking to a minimum. Google him, and you;ll find his dies...he refaces your old ones you send him for about $75 a set I think.

Eastwood is well known for copying good stuff, rebranding it and selling it for too much money for the low quality copies. They recently started selling the Fairmount hammer line, turns out they are imported hammers made to look like the good old Fairmounts but they are NOT the classic Fairmounts at all.
