Corrosion on injector line

Hey folks.

I am in the process of installing a new injector pump on a GM 6.5 diesel.

The lines were open for quite a while and I decided to remove them and blow them out before installing the pump.

I noticed that one of the lines had scale rust on it and I wirebrushed it and as the surface was irregular decided to measure it.

The upper portion of the line which is bright plated measured .251 in. consistently. The corroded portion varied from .241 to .251 in.

Does anyone know if there is a standard for this? Should this line be replaced?

Am kinda new to diesels so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brad

I've seen them corroded way more than that and still in operation without leaking. I'd clean it off good, coat it with a good red oxide primer to prevent anymore corrosion, give it a coat of paint, and call it good.

Yes ,that corrosion is a bit much ,but as others say ,, paint it with red oxide ,,should serve you for many yrs //// There is a Very Important Standard around here that MUST Be Adhered too when it comes to injector lines ,LOL ,,in all honesty , if its leaking it gets replaced ,,, if not I run it til it leaks ,, then replace it ,, they are not cheap ,,

Hello Brad Buchanan,

Those lines have a very tick wall. Look inside the line and you'll se what I mean. Clean them up, and paint them, they should be fine,
