Yard sale find!!!

Stopped at a yard sale today while I was in town. There were 4 five gallon buckets of ATF. Buckets are still sealed. Ask how much? Guy says they're old, they were his Dad's. Doesn't know if it any good. He said if i would take all 4, I could have them for $20. Man,I got penetrating oil, and plenty for seized engines. I don't care if it's old for what I'm using it for.

You did good. Couple of years ago my Uncle found a 20 pound bottle of R12 and two cases of 1 pounders at a garage sale. The guy wanted 50 bucks for it all and my Uncle thought it was too much. Sure wish I'd been there.

I was at one a couple years ago and they had this planter there for 15.00. I looked at and did not know what it fit so I asked they did not know as it was in a shed when they bought the house. I did not buy it and we left. It was on my mind what it was as I have seen something like it before. The more I thought about it, it hit me. It was a seeder attachment for a farmall Cub. When I got back there someone was loading it up. Still kicking my self about that one

I put some Red Tek in my brother's Taurus last May. It was blowing 18F out the vents, and he said he saw frost come out of the vents once or twice. I wouldn't kill myself trying to find R12.

Richard:

Most refrigerators still use R-12 refrigerant, so if you ever need to recharge your refrigerator you've got some. I still have about 6 cans myself & I'm going to use a couple of them to recharge my refrig.

I've got 6 30 lb cylinders an 2 cases of 1 lb cans of R12 and 6 30 lb cylinders of R22 left over when i use to work on a/c's,that was long before the EPA got involved in it.

I bought 3 cases of one pound cans of R12 in about 1990 and stored them in an old freezer (not working). At the time I had four vehicles with AC that used it. The other day I decided to check on them and almost a third of them had nothing in them. They weren't rusted either. I think the original seals where the caps were installed dried (?) out. I think the rest is still good.

I also have almost a pallet of antifreeze that's now about 30 years old. I understand it's not wise to use this in anything modern. I did use ten gallons, five in each tire with water, in my 8N Ford. Seemed like a waste, considering what that stuff used to cost. On the other hand, my cost has been lost many years ago, and I was glad I thought of using it. I guess it would be OK to use in my tractor as well, but I didn't. Put new stuff in it instead.
