Most air conditioners have a built in delay on timer. This timer is to delay the 24 vac control voltage sent to the compressor's contactor/relay. (I think hvac people call it a contactor, some may call it a relay, don't really care what you want to call it, sure everyone knows what I'm talking about.)
Some window A/c have the delay built in to them. Purpose is to delay the on time, 2-3 minutes, so if someone is turning them on, off and them back on, there is a delay in applying power to the compressor. Also, if lightning causes a power blip, there is a delay for the freon pressures to neutralize.
What I want to know, is there a gismo that I can plug in to an outlet and then plug in a refirgerator that has a built in delay on? My power company, out of the blue, has a power blips even if there isn't a storm. It may be nice if there is a surge supressor built in.
I'm sure I could build one out of a supco TD60 timer and a relay, but why build one if I can buy one?
