Identify tool.

Don"t have a pic, but would like to identify a tool I found in my GF"s grandpa"s shop. He was a painter.

The tool has two 3"-4" diameter rubber cups with the concave sides facing each other held together with a handle. One cup on the outside has a female fitting for a garden hose. The cups are held together with a steel handle approx 12" long. The handle is a long U shape with the cups attached at the end of the U. You can squeeze the handle to bring the cups together.

I am thinking this is possibly a paint brush washer? Must not have worked very well cause it still looks brand new.

Any other suggestions?

Around here we call them ear muffs. It is a tool that clamps over the water intake on outboard boat motors for testing/tune ups. Slip it on, connect hose & start it up. Lots handier than setting the motor in a barrell of water, especially the bigger motors that are hard to remove from the boat.

Important tip, take them off before putting boat in the water. I got in a hurry this spring and almost drove out with them on. I always run the motor for 15-20 minutes in the spring before taking it out.
