Sat TV cabling

The house build continues. I now need to run the coax for Sat TV. We currently have Direct but have had Dish in the past. Can I run the RG6 cable from the dish to a distribution box in the basement then run RG6 from there?

You can see either company's installation instructions on respective web sites, but RG-6 is the standard. However, many/most modern satellite installations today will require more than a single RG-6 cable, at least from antenna to first box.

Will this be hidden in a wall, floor or ceiling? Instead of just stapling or strapping your cable, consider running your cable through a conduit or PVC pipe. Who knows what will be required 10 years from now and if the cable needs to be changed, you can simply push (or pull) your new cable through the conduit instead of tearing out an existing area.

Run a minimum of two RG-6 coax from the outside dish location to a central location (basement?)and then co-ax from each room to that central box.If I were doing it..I"d also run CAT-5 phone cable also both to the outside dish location and to each room connection ....just as future insurance. In some rooms...like bedrooms you may not know where you want the TV (wall mounted?)and it"s okay to run more than one run to a room. Besure you have AC outlets nearby.
