I have an old single axle trailer that I need to turn into a water wagon. The bearings are ball bearings and the hubs are about 3 1/2" across. The rims are riveted so they will not take tubeless tires and I can't find other, newer ,rims that will go on the hubs. One rim still has a tube type tire on it. The size of the tire is 600-16. Does anyone still sell that type of tube tire? It's a car tire and not a tractor or implement tire.

Is it a old front car axle? 6 lug bolts? Chevy used ball bearings while others used tapered roller bearings. If you can give the lug count and diameter of the center hole along with the diameter of the circle of the bolt holes I might know what 15" wheel will fit.

When a tubeless tire is mounted on a rivited rim, air leaks around the rivit holes, right? You could take the tire off, weld a bead around each rivet, carefully, grind smooth, paint(heavily over the welds) and mount tubeless tire. Sometimes the valve stem hole for a tube type rim wont accept a tubeless valve stem and the only option then,AFIK, is to weld the hole shut and drill a new nole for the tubeless valve stem.

Another possible option is to use the spray undercoating on the inside of the rim. If air still pushes out around the rivets, try duct tape around the inside of the rim. A tube is easier but more expensive.

I always put a tube in a tubeless tire going on an farm implement or farm wagon. Never crossed my mind not to. I have even put tubes in tubeless tires on a car when the wheel does not seal properly. What could be the down side other than the extra price of the tube?

If not intended for highway use, why not use 600 or 650 X 16 implement tires with AG tubes on your existing rims?

It highway use, 600 X 16 and similar tires are still available.

Around here airplane tires are the best option. There is a guy in town who only does implement tires. He can find used airplane tires in any size. They last forever and take a heck of a load. See if there is someone around who does them.

Just find a good used 16 inch car or truck tire and then install a tube in it. My Ford 841 has truck tires up front that are radials and I have tube in them because of the rivets and have been doing that for decades now. I just mounted a spare for it that other day due to the one on it blowing up and sounded like a shotgun going off. I picked up the spare for free because it had a cut in it so I patched the cut and installed a tube
