1993 Four Winns Engine Problem

I realise this question is way off topic but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. I have a 1993 Four Winns boat that hasn't been started in about 5 years. Boat was properly winterized when it was stored. Engine is a Ford 302 multi port injected with OMC Cobra outdrive. I removed the old fuel from the gas tank which was pretty ripe. Replaced the fuel filter and added 10 gallons of fresh fuel. Tried starting the engine but with no success. Boat has a electric fuel pump. Disconnected the discharge line from the pump and started the pump. Pump appears to be OK. Checked spark plugs and distributor cap. Both OK. When I try to start the engine at full throttle it will run for only a few seconds which makes me think it is a fuel starvation problem and not a ignition problem. I am leaning towards faulty fuel injectors but having eight bad injectors at the same time seems odd. Not sure if there are any other componets between the fuel pump and injectors that could be causing issues. Any other ideas or help would be greatly appreaciated. Sorry for the long post.

Try the air sensor , air movement provided to computer and yours may have a spider making it a home. That 302 should have about the same engine management system as a car/pickup so I'm sure someone on here can help.

It wouldn"t surprise me if all 8 injectors were stuck/gummed up. I have had that more than once when installing a salvage yard engine that has sat long enough for the fuel in the injectors and fuel rails to gum up.

Plug in a "noid light" or two and see if the injectors are being pulsed, and listen with a mechanic"s stethoscope for them to "click". If the "noid light" shows they are getting pulses, and they are not "clicking" they are stuck.

Do you have the air in take hose hooked up? I remember something about the Ford guys joking around and unhooking a wire on the air filter, and waiting to see how long it took a rookie to find out why his tire rotation job now wont start.

If you could get some Sea-foam into the system it might do wonders, I have had good luck with it. Also the new gas with ethanol might clean it out. If it runs at all that means some fuel is getting through the injectors.

Did you actually check the fuel line pressure? The pump can move fuel and still not build sufficient pressure to start the engine. Not sure of the requirement for that engine, but I've replaced a lot of "good" fuel pumps that missed the pressure spec by just a couple psi.
Good Luck and God Bless

Is there a switch near the gear shift that has a lanyard attached. If that switch is off, the engine will only run for a few seconds. The lanyard is supposed to attach to the driver and in case he/she has a problem and leaves the drivers seat the switch shuts off the ignition. Don't ask how I know. Got towed back toward the dock, but figured it out on the way.

If it runs for a few seconds I don't think there is anything else wrong.
