I Have a Sthil FS 55 the problem accurs when i try to start it it will not start but if i take off the gas tank it will start. new carb and fuel lines clean gas cant figure it out why it will ony start when i take the gas tank off

Are you meaning the gas cap??? If that is what you mean then the vent maybe plugged on the cap.

There was a silent recall on some of the gas tanks. They would swell and deform, making that lawyer engineered cap not fit right. Get a new tank, or one from another unit, and try that.

JD has it correct, recall was not silent it was sent to all registered owners and was for the fuel tank cap and not the fuel tank. My fs90r was one of them.

My FS90 was recalled for tank and gas cap but they only replaced cap.I was told by Sthil USA they might be calling some chainsaws back for about the same thing but haven't been contacted yet.
