Caught this one just in time...

Batteries don't last too long down here in the heat. The original battery that came with the Camry was 3 months short of 5 years old. It's been sounding a bit different the past week so I took it in for a battery test. That battery was rated at 575 CCA, but the test showed that it would only put out 202 CCA now.

Probably would have died in another week, somewhere away from home, of course. Had the shop install a new 750 CCA battery with a 5 year warranty so it'll be good for about 4 more years.
 
Old Dick2 knows his stuff about preventive maintenance. He worked for one of the top rated state fleets that prided themselves on catching the problem before it ever happened.
 
I spent 15 mo working in Las Vegas and always heard that. My Chrysler minivan battery lasted 7 years plus. I was kind of surprised. The van was down there through 2 summers of 110 to 113 degree heat, but sometimes the humidity was only 2%. We had a pool at our condo and after getting out of the pool in 110 degrees, the water would evaporate off you so fast it would chill you.
 
WHAT is a "camry"... (Oh, yeah, it's a made -up feel-good name a can-do-nothing-wrong Ornamental car maker has succeeded in making the American public at large LOVE)!
 
Actually, most "foreign" cars sold in the U.S. are now made in the U.S. and contain more U.S. made parts than the so-called "American" made vehicles. Just read that several GM models contain up to 70% foreign made parts.
 
Well, when an "American" company can produce a sensibly named vehicle ("Aveo" comes to mind) that can match the reliability, quality, mileage and resale of one of one of those silly Camrys, I"ll run right out and buy one.

I ain"t planning on holding my breath.
