old generator controlling rpm

i got this old genrator starter.....whats the thaught on using it on a go cart......would it hold up on continual use.....not sure if its 6 or 12 volt.....
how would i go about controlling speed of the generator ......
thinking of using a 10 or 12 tooth sprocket...it has a 72 tooth sprocket on a 12 inch tire.......

Engine starter would draw hundreds of amps, overheat in 30 seconds and generally suck on a go cart

Generator starters are only good for short term use. If you have what I think you do. Draw quite a bit of amps to get rolling.

They are made for short term starting, yes you will burn it up.
