I am looking for a tubular skylight. The Solatube is way too expensive. ODL and Velux are a much better price but the reviews indicate slightly lower light transmissions.

I have installed many and if you have a dark area that could use some natural light, they are great. Make sure you get the tube securely sealed and taped together with some GOOD aluminum tape and you will be OK with any of them. The ones with the rigid pipe are better at transmitting light than the ones with a flexible tube.

I can't tell you if one brand is better than another.
But I was just working in a home that had two of those tubes. One in the bathroom and one in a dark hallway. They let in an amazing amount of light, even on a cloudy day.

Place I lived a while back had one in the bath with no windows. Even at nearly dark outside, it would give you enough light to see how to walk in and out. Great way to get free night light if there are street lights around.
